For the last few days we were predicted to have these thunderstorms yesterday - even on the weather app at 1pm it was still showing the lightning icon on that hour and for the next two hours - but not even a drop of rain was to be had!

Mind you, now I've seen those hailstones I might be glad that we didn't get it after all.

Thunder has arrived.

Thundering like mad.

The entire sky is looking thunderous, from horizon to horizon.

According to the BBC Weather website/app, from Monday we're in for an epic extravaganza week of thunder and lightning on each and every day!

All those hours of lightning icons we were promised throughout the evening turned into about three distant rumbles of thunder and a very brief downpour! It seems west Wales has been hit hard though and has flooding.

Lightnings are still forecast here for each of the following four days.

A huge stretch of lightnings currently stretching from Mid Wales all the way up past Liverpool and into Cumbria.

No lightning here but it's very overcast, so I wouldn't be surprised if some comes along later.

It went very dark about half an hour ago - I see from the radar that a small storm went over the other side of Fanchester, across the river.

It will probably surprise you city types to hear that Fanchester is big enough to have two sides.

For someone who lives in an area with no major river I find this fact quite thrilling.

That's a bit vague considering Yorkshire is rather big. I think I live closer to parts of Yorkshire than other parts of Yorkshire do. If that makes sense.

Rumbling in the rather close distance! Lots of lightnings in between Birmingham and the Black Country.

Lots of flashes on the horizon as it goes dark.
