BREAKING REALISATION: Considering it's one of the first times I'd heard Gimme Hope Jo'anna in about 30 years, it hit me as I was watching it that the "Jo'anna" might actually be Johannesburg, as opposed to a girl called Joanna which I've spent the last 31 years naively believing. Upon research, it turns out this is correct. I remember it playing on the radio in my aunt's kotchen.
