Re: The Geto Boys - We Can't Be Stopped
It's a very good and unique album - extremely rough around the edges and more often than not a set of solo tracks by the three rappers - imperfect and yet glorious.
Others may have a different take on it, but as a die hard hip-hop fan it remains a watershed elpee.

Has Wendi gone to have a scalding hot shower and scrub herself violently with a pumice to feel clean again?

Re: The Geto Boys - We Can't Be Stopped
I felt the final track was among the stronger tracks on the album.
Overall, I felt it was an album of two halves, with the second set of songs being stronger than the first. I feel they should have stuck to doing songs about matters that have a core resonance, rather than the sex and drugs stuff that proved to be distancing and lacking in emotional vitality.
Now to look back at the thread and see what everyone else made of it.

Re: The Geto Boys - We Can't Be Stopped
There was always some debate amongst my friend and I (we, amongst our friends were the only ones who really liked hip-hop) as to what the Geto Boys meant by a "G.O." - "Do It Like a G.O." etc...
Obviously we assumed that the G stood for gangster, but couldn't understand why the O came after the G - especially when O.G. was a generally accepted acronym in the rap/gangster community for "original gangster".
We did entertain the thought that it might be a Francophone version "gangster d'original", but that was obviously absurd.
Ultimately we decided that it stood for "gangly otter".

Musically this is quite similar to the stripped back Yo! Bum Rush the Show.
Not as a powerful, but funkier.
And more potty mouthed.

Another I'm not saying that in the Morgue.
I think I prefer this guy, the shouting guys good in short bursts but over a whole song, it sounds like he needs a lie down.
