Yes, but have you heard of Dolores Finklebaum from Squeaky Doorbell?
You should hear their early demos, so much better than the Peel Session tracks they did.

I'm still on the soppy instrumental.

Drums need to be higher in the mix.

There's something almost something about this one.

A lot of these songs have too much lyrical repetition.

It is over.
That was an album which suffered from a refusal to get stuck in. The songs weren't too bad but more commitment was needed. Also, less doodly bits in between the proper songs.
Now to look back at the thread and see what everyone else made of it.

It was... I dunno too polite. You could imagine Meat Loaf doing a couple of these. Better.
On a B side or something.
Maybe that's just me. I don't know to give it ★★ or ★★★

Shall we do the Bob Dylan one while we're still here? and it's still crepular outside?

I feel let down by that record.
It started quite well and continued for a while with what seemed to be a quietly, gently determined and confident sound and identity.
It then began to falter and stumble into genuine cliche (rather than archness, pastiche and ironic kitsch), before slumping finally, haplessly and a bit sadly into mere mediocrity.
The material - gradually more strident yet less focussed - increasingly, and ultimately fatally became detached from the lo-fi, tinny production.
To hammer that home to myself just a bit more I've decided to listen to the first (proper) track and it's really very nice.
The second one's OK too.
Funnily enough, if all the tracks had been reversed in order we'd all be feeling a lot more positive about the album.

You've just made that singer and band up.
They're real, and they're what Summer Camp would be if they had a greater sense of commitment:

I've just listened to a couple of tracks on YouTube, with the little speakers (cost £7) attached to the computer pointing at me and they sound much better than my propa stereo (cost £???) with the left speaker blasting 3 foot behind my right ear.
