REM's 8th studio album, which yielded SIX singles. llama

This was always a favourite of mine in my younger days but has it stood the test of time?

I've tried to like their earlier albums, but they're so basic, compared to a poor The Smiths B-side they're flattened. And the lyrics are an halfwits idea of intelligent lyrics.

And the later anti-pop ones seem to have half the ideas song needs, a bit like Coldplay now I think about it.

I much prefer their sell out successful phase. OR DO I? There's only one way to find out, listen.

I prefer Monster. Apologies.

But I do like Nightswimming. That's my favourite track on AFTP.

I like the story that the Track 'What's the Frequency Kenneth?' came after the phrase John Hinckley Jr. repeatedly shouted at the cameraman as he was arrested after trying to kill Ronald Reagan.

It wasn't true.

I thought it was to do with people beating up Truman Capote. Or do I mean Gore Vidal?

type

Well it seems it was american newsreader Dan Rather who had 'Kenneth, what's the frequency' shouted at him before the onslaught began.

Whyever did I think Capote or Vidal had anything to do with it?

Or is it maybe mentioned in a Tennessee Williams biography I happened to read?

Kenneth. Tennessee Williams. Williams. Think about it yes

Perhaps, we should do 'Upstairs' after?

If we're up to it that is.

For some reason, this always reminds me of David Essex's Rock On.

I've always liked the cover spiky thing on this album.

Wonder what it is?

This does sound like the sort of song I could write if I could be bothered finishing one.
