Re: Household hints and tips
Should this not be in my Housekeeping and Householding Cupboard?

Did you forget that you created it for me?

Re: Household hints and tips
I thought we had a thread called, "Household hints and tips," and used the search function to try and find it. When I couldn't find it, I got confused.

Shouldn't this be in Fangirls Housekeeping section?

What's that first one, with the sink and the vigenar?
I don't get it.

Re: Household hints and tips
I seem to remember seeing videos, a few years back, that claimed that a combination of baking soda and vinegar could be used to unblock sinks.
However, there were also videos that debunked the claim.

A plunger is what you want for unblocking sinks. And it works much better if you hold a wet cloth over the overflow while you plunge the plunger.

Let's not get into all of that again.

Re: Household hints and tips
Never buy a landline from Binatone. Last week I forgot I was on hold, and took it out with me while I put the rubbish out. It went 'out of range' and we've all tried to get it back. Every combination of buttons and numbers possible has been tried - and we've spread our efforts across many days in order to ration the frustration.
This mornings marathon attempt was the final straw. There is still no dial tone, and ringing it from a mobile still gets the number not recognized message. On the display, out of range keeps flashing.
They don't appear to have a contact telephone number. Just a few minutes ago I put on a steel tipped stiletto to stamp on and smash the base and the phone itself into pieces. I'm feeling a little better now. Once I finish this cup of tea and find the other shoe, I'm off to purchase a whole new telephone. One that isn't junk.

Re: Household hints and tips
I threw out all my landline phones because BT are forcing everyone to use VOIP instead. When I get another house I won't have a landline at all, just broadband.

I couldn't be without one. Wandering around while on the phone is one of my favourite activities. I find mobiles to be a poor imitation. The new one is actually a new two. Twins from Panasonic.

I might've known. We are still phoneless. Panasonic doesn't work weekends. My mobile died, so I had to go in search of a phone box to find this out. That cost 60p to even dial the number. Nobody is speaking to anyone now, due to all the hassle of this.

I think I'm going to throw these things out of the window. None of the YouTube idiots guides have helped at all. Pressing register OK only results in a question mark appearing on the handset display.

I don't know what to do. If I wasn't so angry I'd cry. I've broken a nail by trying to unplug the ******* thing again. Nobody is speaking to anyone. My mother came over and tried a couple of days ago. We had an enormous argument. My son is staying with a friend. My brother refuses to come over to help because he's even more impatient with this stuff than I am. Of all four of us, not one is now speaking to any of the others, in any combination.

This is all the fault of the DVLA. If they hadn't put me on hold for so long that I forgot I was on hold - due to them not sending any road tax reminder, and therefore leaving me with no code to use to pay - I wouldn't have gone all the way downstairs on my old phone, which wouldn't have then deregistered itself as out of range.
