I shall watch videos of buzzards on Youtube to see if they have the same body shape and flight methodology.

If that's a fully-grown buzzard, it's way too small. That doesn't look any bigger than a pigeon, and the bird I saw was much bigger than the wood pigeon it was trying to grab. dunno

Ooh. Apparently, they can have a 55" wingspan. That does sound quite large.

I think it might be a Honey Buzzard because they're supposed to be distinguishable from Common Buzzards by their disproportionately small heads. And I was struck by the smallness of its head.

It's over Graves Park!

It's a Common Buzzard. I can tell by the way it's holding its wings, if a video on YouTube's to be believed.

It may have been a Red Kite?
The tail of a Red Kite is very distinctive, here is one taken from here.

And here is a Buzzard also taken fron here....both were really high up, never have a camera when they are close.

Not today though. Today I saw the robin who frequents my garden - I was snapping bamboo canes so as to throw them away, and as soon as I chucked them down on the grass it was fluttering around them, presumably hoping that delicious insects were inside.

Mine definitely wasn't a Red Kite. When it flew directly overhead, I made sure to get a good look at the shape of its tail, as the Internet had told me that was the way to recognise them.

Having now watched videos on YouTube, I'm fairly certain it was a buzzard but am still unsure if it was a Common Buzzard or a Honey Buzzard.

They're circling above the Graves Park area and occasionally flying straight at each other.
