Anyway, my earliest ancestors that I can trace were both born in 1816. One was from Liverpool and one was from Ireland.

They both married each other.

He had a surname that the Internet tells me originated in Italy. aristojar

Apparently, her maiden name indicates she was descended from some Irish king or other. aristojar

Everyone else I've unearthed in my family tree has a name that originated in Yorkshire, the Midlands or Lancashire, and indicates they were common as muck. box

I thought Lancashire and Yorkshire was an Israel v Palestine situation - two immediate neighbours that simply stare across the great dividing line at one another, in hatred and hostility. It sounds as if you are the product of loving peacemakers.

That's what's always claimed but I've never encountered any signs of it. It's always been more about rivalries between towns and cities; Sheffied vs Leeds, Leeds vs Manchester, Manchester vs Liverpool, etc.

I had a pleasant walk through the local area with my mum this morning, and she started talking about my Great-uncle John, which reminded me of Wendi's genealogical discovery about her 'aunts' who were 60 years younger than Wendi thought, so I told mum all about it, and she was really interested, as genealogy is her hobby.
