Re: The Outer Space thread
I can't find out when it's supposed to smash Mars in the face land.

I was under the impression the atmosphere of Mars is too thin for helicopters.

Apparently this is a special helicopter specially designed for Martian conditions.

Re: The Outer Space thread
I must admit I found that quite encouraging. Given that from 1976 for about 20 years all we had to look at was that Viking 2 picture of a boulder field.

That video is from the Curiosity rover not the latest one, you can see the tracks it has left, perseverance hasn't moved yet.

Re: The Outer Space thread
Fine, I'll just go back to looking at the Viking 2 picture then.

Re: The Outer Space thread
I think there should be a landing video plus many more pics in the next couple of days, I think the landing software has to be deleted and data has to be uplinked to the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter satellite before being transmitted back to Earth, then the operating software has to be loaded,(I could be wrong here) and the cameras colour calibrated etc.
This is one mission I have really been looking forward to.

Re: The Outer Space thread
Apparently they live-streamed the landing on the big screens at Piccalilli Gherkins.
Shame virtually no one was there to see it.
