Re: The Blue Peter threat
Anthea Turner was only on it for two years? It felt like longer. Anything she grinned away in felt like a lifetime. Saying that, her Tracy Island was good, and the only time I was genuinely interested in this dreadful television show.
It and Newsround were like endurance tests before Neighbours. Between them and Record Breakers, it's amazing what we used to sit through.
I'm glad to see Richard Bacon was invited. He's hot, and was treated appallingly for daring to be a fully grown adult. Children's tv presenters are meant to be like dolls who only have smooth plastic when you take their knickers off.
They could've invited Gloria for Caron. She might've jumped at the 17,394th chance to talk about her on the telly. Her wig gets ever more ornate. It's a work of art. Anthea could make a version for the children of today.

Does anyone else remember when they'd make a 'cake' for one of the pets when it was their birthday?

Re: The Blue Peter threat
Uh-oh. It seems Biddy Baxter might be next to be cancelled.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-67091646TV presenter Yvette Fielding, who made headlines as the youngest-ever host of Blue Peter, has claimed she was bullied while making the show, and almost quit.
The presenter claimed most of her mistreatment stemmed from Blue Peter's notorious editor Biddy Baxter, who helmed the show for 25 years from 1962 until her retirement in 1988.
Fielding characterised Baxter as "incredibly cruel", saying she was constantly criticised for her presenting style.
"I was told that I was useless, absolutely useless, again and again and again and again," she told interviewer Genevieve Hassan.
"Every time I did what I thought was right, she'd come back and she'd say something awful or she'd just berate me in front of other people. And it was just absolutely soul destroying.
"It was like being beaten by a parent".

Re: The Blue Peter threat
I think Biddy Baxter's unpleasantness has long been legendary.

Oh. Hold on. She's still alive. In which case, I retract that statement.
