Barry White had fathered two children by the age of 16, with his first wife.

Everyone's allowed one accident, but two in short succession is really taking the p*ss. Not big, not clever.
Apart from that, who knows what he might've gone on to achieve had he not lumbered himself so young.

flibbertigibbet
/ˌflɪbətɪˈdʒɪbɪt/
Flibbertigibbet is one of many incarnations of the Middle English word flepergebet, meaning "gossip" or "chatterer" (others include flybbergybe, flibber de' Jibb, and flipperty-gibbet). It is a word of onomatopoeic origin, created from sounds that were intended to represent meaningless chatter.
I actually used this word the other day for the first time in a long time to describe someone and wondered what its origins were. Do people still use this word?

Re: Fact(s) of the Day
I've only ever heard it used ironically, when the speaker wishes to impersonate a Last of the Summer Wine style northern caricature, or is being a bit c*mp.

In the two years Joe Biden has been American President, he has visited the UK five times - but hasn't as yet set foot in neighbouring Canada.

The furthest ever distance observed and photographed in the UK is from Snowdon in North Wales to a mountain called Merrick in south west Scotland, a distance of 144 miles.

Google Maps automatically changing my input of "Snowdon" to "Yr Wyddfa".

Re: Fact(s) of the Day
According to my calculations, that would be a similar distance to someone standing on the top of the Shard in London and being able to see the Park Hill flats in Sheffield on the horizon.

Or someone on the top of Coventry Cathedral being able to see a ship in Felixstowe docks.

Re: Fact(s) of the Day
I wonder if that means you can see Dublin from the tops of those hills, as well?

What I don't understand are all the photos I see online of the Welsh mountains, taken from Blackpool. I don't remember ever seeing them when we used to go there for our holidays.

I, therefore, conclude that the Welsh mountains didn't exist back then.

Those sorts of photos are often taken on an extreme zoom lens thingy. I remember people on the Liverpool forum claiming that Liverpool is backed by Welsh mountains, showing photos of the Liver Building with these blurry silhouettes in the background.

There is somewhere, maybe from Snowdon, Scafell, Blackpool Tower or somewhere else high up, that a clear day you can see England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, the republic of Ireland and the Isle of Man all at the same time.

He's very... enthusiastic. I liked his photo of Blackpool all lit up from the Isle of Man!
I've seen the Isle of Man from the Cumbria coast. It's really clear to see from there.
