The 2020 Oscars
It would appear to be tonight.
Here's where we can post any Oscars news that grabs or repels us.

All I've heard about this year's Oscars (and BAFTAs for that matter) is issues with lack of diversity. I'm sure they have this same debate every single year.
The Brit Awards never had any issues with diversity, even decades ago.

All won by film people again
So much for diversity.
When is one going to go to a software developer?

Re: The 2020 Oscars
I think a great point has just been made on GMB that of course it's a kick in the teeth for hard work and talent, but consistently ignoring vast demographics just means they increasingly no longer give a t*ss what the same old panel deems worthy of an award.
I never watch or go to any awards ceremonies. I did the latter when I was earlier in my work. I can't think of much worse than spending an evening like that. Clapping hurts the hands after a time anyway.
Possibly the only form of 'entertainment' that beats awards for torture are Britain's Got Talent and the X Factor, which seem to exist so people can openly enjoy laughing at the mentally ill, the physically unfortunate, and/or the totally talentless.

Re: The 2020 Oscars
I only watch the summing up stuff once it's done.
Natalie Portman looked incredible. I've no interest in watching a Korean film that may or may not be subtitled. Joan is always less special when she goes all alt-right.
I heard that exact cow milk speech from a client at a lunch years ago, so that was mildly interesting - the talking points were in the very same order, with the same tone of plaintive despair. They must all read from a strict script.
It's coming up for time to turn off and turn to work matters because I can't bear Lorraine Kelly gushing over everything, nor her live clips with Ross King of the auburn spray on hair.

Didn't one of the new Star Wars films win an award?

Re: The 2020 Oscars
I do feel a bit sorry for Susannah Reid I must say. All those borrowed diamonds and she's f*cked up her fake tan very badly. Worth a Google for those not yet awake.
I have been there myself. I was due to give a speech, so I did all the right stuff on schedule. I got up around 5am and the mood lighting in the bathroom came on when I opened the door.
I walked past the mirror and reeled back in horror. I looked like I'd painted myself in luminous stripes with the sauce of a chicken Madras. I had to get a cab to stop at a branch of Macy's - it wasn't open but they took pity and let me in early.
Hastily covered in face neck and hand foundation, which had been formulated for black African skin, and about $250 for the meter later, I was right on time.
Sharon Osborne looks great. Not especially pleasant to deal with, but looks brilliant this morning. Martin Katz diamonds all round it seems - well, say no more.
