Sophie B Hawkins - Tongues and Tails - 1992
This was one of my favourite albums in the 1990s but I've not played it in nearly 20 years, due to my lack of a cassette player and my quest to find ever newer music. It was a massive smash hit, only missing the Top 100 by what I'm sure was a hair's breadth.
I remember it as being a very randy album which seemed to have a thing about inc*st.
The hit single from it is, of course, an acknowledged classic but will the rest of the album stand up to the test of time? Or will it sound horribly 1990s?

It got to number 46 in the charts - as did her second album, Whaler.
I know Whaler better, but have always thought Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover was her best song.

Very 80s drums. Played by 90s drum machines.

OH!
Gosh.
I really don't like this song.
I remember my posh friend Mickey coming back from his gap-year and he kept singing this.

I always think Sophie is Madonna for people who like singers with feeling.

There's not really a discernible melody if you listen a bit more closely.
