Douchebags in 'supercars' racing up and down Abbey Road, junkies fixing up by the bins, huge groups of people having al fresco meals at one of the 400 Middle Eastern restaurants on the corner of AR and BR. Colbert

The car park at the hotel appears to be completely full.

That has made me stressed out and worried about tonight.

I walked round the hotel just now and I found that there were 38 empty parking spaces on the far side. Admittedly, about 10 of those were at the very far end where all the empty takeaway bags are, and where a lorry would probably block you in, but that still left 28 perfectly good spaces.

And yet by the entrance people are parked all on the kerb and the yellow box grids.

I can think of 2 possible explanations:

1. Lots of people arrived yesterday evening while the restaurant was busy with local custom. I of course know better than to do that Spock Smug

2. These people are just bone idle

The people over the road, with the football flag, have had their front garden/drive all dug up.

And now a huge lorry with a grabber is loading up all the rubble.

This neighbourhood has evidently accelerated its slide downmarket. There's a group of people on one of the terraces, clearly drunk, repeatedly singing the only lines anyone knows to Viva Espana. Those being 'Viva Espana', and 'Espana por favor' - complete with clapping and cheering. On and on. It must be an Air B&B type invasion. Additionally, separately, the peace has been disturbed by no less than four police visits over the course of the day - it could be more, those were just the events featuring sirens and the sound of tyres on Tarmac.

I've just 'nipped' to the shops - normally a 10 minute long return journey by foot - only to find that there's been a stabbing on Abbey Road and the police have completely cordoned the street off, meaning that, what with the train lines, I had to take a tortuous round-the-houses route.

40 minutes it took. bawl
