That’s quite sad.
I guess it’s what you get for making indestructible products. Eventually, everyone has and nobody needs to replace.
Even my mother, who breaks everything, has Tupperware stuff that’s forty years old and still perfectly operational.

Re: What's in the News?
Speaking of which, I saw Emily Maitlis say - as an observation of how different American culture is - that she’d interviewed an American family who throw out all their plates instead of washing them, and just buy new ones.
My mother does that. It was always an ever changing mix of proper plates and paper plates, and once done they were binned. If they couldn’t be easily rinsed, out they’d go. She has a few non matching plates from decimated sets.
For most of my childhood, I kept the only spork* in the house in my bedroom, in case it too disappeared. Most of our cutlery, also unmatched, was stolen from restaurants one or two utensils at a time, then also binned over time.
*It was one of these - https://www.reddit.com/r/AustralianNostalgia/comments/1d01t8m/splade/ - so not really a spork.
