My mum grows her own flowers so has never wished to be given any.

She likes cards with floral garden scenes though, so I get her those. This year's was duly appreciated.

I think I have a mouse. I accidentally dropped a baked potato behind the kitchen door the other evening, and by the time I noticed it was there the skin had all gone - it was in small pieces all around a smaller potato than I recall it having been.

I've pasted the obvious places around the room with Sensodyne, because apparently they don't like the taste of mint toothpaste. I really hope that works.

As I have a birthday coming up later this year, I've been reassessing my make up needs. A lady of a certain age can't stay stuck where she was - that's horribly ageing.

Due to this I was drawn to Harrods over the weekend, with my iPad displaying a handful of images I liked, to spend four hours discussing my needs and desires.

My brothers surrogate/lesbian friend is having a girl. A niece for me. I've seen an (admittedly very nice) email now, saying he had been trying to call.

This means we'll have to get down to serious business over my grandmothers jewellery. Eyeball to eyeball negotiation. I had it in mind I'd end up with the lot.

If only you'd said. Last year my son gifted me some bulbs which were meant to be white Cala lilies. I put them in a terracotta pot outside, with specially enriched soil, and waited excitedly. Over the last couple of weeks or so, it's turned out they are in fact my most hated flower on earth - the dreaded daffodil.

I cut all their garish yellow heads off the other morning, and will probably have to do so as more appear. The green leaves and stems can stay for now, until I decide what's going to replace them. I'm genuinely upset. There must've been a mix up at the nursery. The packet had a picture of white Cala lilies.

You could've just stopped by the side of an A road and helped yourself. There's always millions of the f***ing things in such locations. This is a terrible time of year - you can't even get through a supermarket checkout without being confronted by bargain buckets of them. I think of them as rather ugly weeds.

Earlier I was chatting to my mum about a pet shop we used to frequent in an area we hadn't been for years. We agreed that it's likely not there anymore and I joked that it's probably now a vape shop.

I just checked on Google Street View - and it's a vape shop.

We did have a Mouse, it had a gruesome fate in a confrontation with the Cat whose head you can see in the corner of the photo.
