Re: What's happening in your life? Part 2
My son came home from his grandmothers before 9am. He'd got up to find her sloshing vodka in front of Good Morning Britain. I was too busy and too dispirited to deal with it at that hour.
I've just been called by a friend of hers, telling me she's been rolling around Chelsea, in just a vest and pants, covered in coconut oil, incoherently drunk, trying to talk to/shout at people.
I rang her. She was having some trouble stringing sentences together. The snarling aggression returned with great fluency when I suggested a nice long glass of water might be in order.
I'm really at the end of my tether with it all.

It's quite hard to get sectioned these days. But I fear your mum may be drifting into the target area.

I had that thought myself, and it was with relief that it occurred to me.

I don't want anyone to think I'm mocking her. I'm really not. I think in life you have to laugh wherever you can at the absurd and find an outlet to do so, because otherwise you'd just cry instead.
I've spent the last couple of hours driving about on errands to brighten up her life, only to find she's parked on her terrace with yet more vodka. She tried to make conversation but I said nothing and left.
On my way back, I noticed that someone has cut down one of my very favourite trees, whose year round foliage has been a joy to me each time I've passed it for several years now.

My energy company have just told me they're cutting my direct debit payments by £5 a month. ![gasp](/users/3715/63/33/29/smiles/714663790.gif)

Mine's been reduced from £82 to £77.
At the start of April, it was only £34.

Re: What's happening in your life? Part 2
I have almost no idea as to what's going on with my energy supply and tariff.
I'm with (the disgraced and, after a promising and 'hipster-corporate' facade, all round appalling now) Bulb.
However, I have a weird combo of pre-pay gas meter (it came with the flat) and a normal electricity meter, so my energy is split and tabulated differently.
So, my electricity usage can be worked out normally (although I almost never bother to provide meter readings (cos lazy)), but with gas there's a pre-pay meter - that comes with a card I have to top up at a designated 'paypoint' - meaning I haven't much of a clue as to how much gas I truly have in store (cos lazy) since it operates on this system whereby you can put cash on it (at a local shop), but also has this credit fall-back aspect.
Ergo: with gas, I'm often, without bothering to notice (cos lazy) running my gas constantly in arrears/in massive debt.
Basically, I seem to be paying thrippence-halfpenny for energy, but am waiting for some kind of retrospective bill exceeding approximately £45,000,005.

That post was upsetting and confusing to write.
It scarcely made sense.
I was hoping that it might help me.![bawl](/users/3715/63/33/29/smiles/540545940.gif)

Re: What's happening in your life? Part 2
Can you not have the pre-pay meter removed, as it was installed for a previous tenant? And have a proper meter installed?

Re: What's happening in your life? Part 2
I could.
But lazy.
In truth, whenever it gets low (or, as on a couple of occasions) cuts my gas off completely without warning (cos I haven't payed any attention cos lazy), I just top it up with £30 or so and it connects me again within a minute or two and tells me that I'm now something something in credit and have something something credits-worth of credit and then I forget about it again.

Re: What's happening in your life? Part 2
I have to keep adjusting my 'when will I run out of money' spreadsheet to allow for ever-increasing utility expenditure. Current predictions are £145 a month for leccy and £204 for gas.
This means I will run out of money in June 2035 in a worst case scenario where I get sacked in 3 months' time and never find another job.

The front doorbell's just gone.
There's nobody there.
I can see the front path from where I am, and there's nobody there.
