I see there that while I pay my own staff, as a British taxpayer I'm also paying for Donald Trump's staff to be furloughed. I'm so glad he will be spared from putting his miniature hands anywhere near his own pockets.

Re: The Working Hour
I am a little bit sick of seeing all these ever so shocked people being interviewed in their gardens about their distress over having to cope on statutory sick pay. While I can understand it must be difficult to find yourself on less than £100 a week, I don't remember these faces being all over the news in outrage at the sick and the dying being driven into penury and suicide.

Re: The Working Hour
I've had loads of zoom meetings this morning. People jibber jabbering away while my head feels like there's a large metal object bumping around inside it.

Re: The Working Hour
It appears that my partner in crime has agreed to advise the d*ckhead I've turned down repeatedly, on an 'informal' basis - or attempted to agree that I would. Evidently, they are connected in some way by an in law. I've had to speak to this person, once again, this afternoon - I think she was eating during the call. Considering I wouldn't spit on her if she caught fire, this has proved to be a challenge. Yet again, her total lack of media awareness coupled with an apparent love of corporate jargon clashed badly with each other, and with the circumstances which haven't changed - rank incompetence, a previously eight figure deficit which now threatens to race towards a nine figure one, and a mysterious ability to stay in post/out of prison.
We'll have to have resolution because I can't do anything positive for her, or her organisation while she remains there. My red biro remained in the written notes I made the last time, and I see that not only have I pretty much written out the same again as we talked today, but that the ink itself is running out. How dreadful does one person have to be to require an entire red biro to themselves?

Re: The Working Hour
I think we will look to furlough rather than redundancy. That's definite. There's no point in throwing money hand over fist and ending up with no reserves, which we might need. She was less keen at my suggestion that if the staff are on furlough, the two of us should be seen to reduce our own earnings to 20% of what they were in 19/20. That would still leave us both with higher than the national average income. Something for us to argue about when it isn't so late in the evening.

Re: The Working Hour
Foregoing everything except 20% is a bit much - she does have a mortgage, and I don't like cheap shoes. Considering that without the bonuses and expenses that comprise approx 80% of the total package, it would actually be leaving us each with 20% of 20% - that would be an almost abusively ridiculous sacrifice.
A reduction for the two of us into the next lowest tax bracket and no lower for now seems wise. This will also entitle us to the initial £12,500 tax free personal allowance, so that's exciting. Agreement too on no redundancies for anyone else, which was my bottom line.
It probably would've been wiser to do this from the start instead of paying them 100%, but it felt greedy and immoral to take taxpayers money when there are vast demands on it.

Re: The Working Hour
The classic - an email asking if I knew such and such a person and if so, what are they like?
My response - you've definitely met her too, she led the next table to us at that child exploitation workshop, well kept blonde hair, good make up aside from the navy mascara, great skin, could do with upgrading her clothes to move away from that January sale at Next vibe, talks a load of b*ll*cks with great confidence.
Sent - to her. There's no point in desperately digging. If she says anything directly, I'll humbly explain myself.

Some of it is quite complimentary, you might be all right.

She hasn't come back to me yet, so she may not. As Fangirl says - it wasn't all horrible so it's not as bad as it could've been. I've decided I'm going to say the navy mascara is just my personal thing because I have green eyes, but with her deep 'blue sky on a hot day' pools of expressive loveliness, I can see why she enhances them with navy. We can work from there as required.

Re: The Working Hour
I'm having to work again. On a Sunday.
I've told them I'll go up to 3pm Monday and then I'm going offline till Tuesday.
I'm not working 8 days straight again for anyone.

I've had enough for today. I'm downing tools, then having a bath, then having loads of vodka & tonics.
