I watched both of them. I remember excitedly tuning into the first episode exactly 30 years ago and finding it not so great at the time - even as an 11-year-old I found it a bit too...modern and yoof-ful. But watching it again all these years later it all just feels rather dated, with a slightly confusing format but overall not THAT much different. Even the live singing wasn't too bad.

I think I'll survive the revamp. happy
