Good luck spotting Neptune with binoculars.

Jupiter is a fine naked eye object in the SW in the evenings at the moment though, I was admiring it the other night.

I was trying to take some photos of Jupiter and it's Moons through my telescope the other night, but I was drunk and kept falling off the ladder....they weren't very good.

Your telescope has a ladder?

I'm imagining a huge dome looming above the suburban treetops of Zarnichester.

Tonight, there's been an orange light to the left of the moon. Is it Mars?

There's also a bright light, way, way, way, way to the right of the moon but I don't know what that one might be.

That is Jupiter, I was admiring it myself the other night.

And you're right about the orange thing next to the Moon yesterday, that was indeed Mars.

You'll all be pleased to know that Mars will be much further away from the Moon tonight, as the Moon has moved on to a different part of the sky.

The Moon moves 13 degrees a day, Mars only 1 or so.

(A degree is twice the width of the full moon, or twice the width of the sun, or half the width of your finger held at arms length.)

I'm going to use that information to work out where you must have been watching from.

Is that Centigrade or Fahrenheit?

Only, I only use Kelvin, what with me having happy memories of visiting Heaven 17 when they all lived on Kelvin Flats.
