Genuine vintage or bought from Top Shop with all holes in them already?

You think everything sounds like the four bands you've ever heard of.
The Beatles/McCcaroni
ELO
Squeeze
Crowded House
The Travelling Wilburys
That's it.
Four bands.
+
Racey
Pilot
That makes exactly four bands.

Or Lou Reed. Which in this case…
Mr. What?
I almost never liken anyone to the fragrant Momus.
That White Town album was so apey of him it was like

It is over.
It is hard to understand why it started.
Now to look back at the thread and see what everybody else made of it.

Re: Denim - Back In Denim (1995)
Well, he has some talent and is obviously intelligent, but it's all so overweening and arch that it lacks the essentially charm required to win over the listener when underneath it all is just a load of misanthropy and snarky 'smarts'.
The singing was painful as well - like I said before, an 'ironic' Lou Reed parody deployed to disguise bad singing.
Still, there were a few moments, here and there where you thought 'hmm, this could've'd been good with better production, vocals and a few minutes lopped off'.
Ultimately, well, despite me usually not really minding - or knowing what was in store - my playlists always bring out the best in people don't they.

It's only about 30 minutes long.

Was one ★ too mean? Maybe, but I've always wanted to check out this album, and get Poundland Lou Reed going Stuart 'Spangles' Maconie on us.
