Re: Roy Orbison - Mystery Girl (1989)
Most of these songs are much too long.

Technically the last song, but as the bonus one is by Brian Eno I might just check that one out.

Seems like an odd one to end on.

Re: Roy Orbison - Mystery Girl (1989)
They'd've'd been less than 3 minutes long back when music was proper.

I briefly thought the last track was called "Barbara Orbison".

CD capacity allowed for such deviancy.

Re: Roy Orbison - Mystery Girl (1989)
It is over.
It's nice that he had a career revival, right at the end of his life but the record was fairly dull from start to finish.
Now to look back at the thread and see what everybody else made of it.

Well, it was ultimately a very sweet and touching thing for all and sundry to do.
Like staging a kind of 'Help the Aged' version ofDeaf Live Aid in album form for very young relic of yesterbork.

Actually the production on this sounds more dated than the Jeff Lynne stuff.

Re: Roy Orbison - Mystery Girl (1989)
Well, I love You Got It (I have to blank out the fact that it's Jeff Lynne-related) but nothing comes close that. I don't think the album was ever supposed to be thrilling, but there's some nice stuff on it and although Orbison does sound older he'd still got (it) that highly recognisable voice. And it's all very sentimental.
