How much is too much to spend on wallpaper?

Asking, because I’m considering this in the hallway. It’s small, plus obviously the various doors help, so I think two rolls might do.

I haven't done any wallpapering since wood chip was in fashion.

I like woodchip. We had it in the living room, kitchen, and bedrooms when I was younger.

That’s what I’m asking.

I usually just paint on lining paper, so I’m not up on wallpaper. It’s over twenty years since I bought some blue toile du jouy for a uni flat during a chintz spree. What seems like a reasonable sum?

Do they still do flock wallpaper, I used to like that.

I've already decided on the William Morris I now want for the living room. I think I'll go art-deco for the hall.
