The daffodils appear to have been incredibly lacklustre this year. I've seen millions of green shoots but literally about two flowers - which vanished without trace.

In previous years I've seen so many daffodil flowers, but not this year. Maybe I'm too early, or they were just generally bad this year.

There are loads in my *new* area, and I saw some in the Midlands too. You need to look harder - there must be some in your areas!

It's true I've not been out and about as much as I used to. For the last year I've more or less been confined to a 1½ mile radius from my house.

My trip out, the other day, was the first time I'd been outside my immediate area for over a year.

Daffodils are my most hated flowers. I hate this time of year for the insult to taste that these glorified weeds offer, everywhere you look. M&S always has them on offer, at the end of the actual checkout, so there's no escape even when you're innocently packing your grocery shopping. If anyone bought me daffodils, I'd bin them - the daffodils and the person.

I've just worn out a groove between here and basically the Wimpole Road/Barrack St/Brook St crossroads.

Some Daffs just up the road from me, dying back now.

Incidentally, where the Daff pic was taken was where my childhood home stood, if you look at this pic of me aged about 70..6 you can see the same hedge behind...I still live a few houses up the road.

After the daffodil controversy yesterday I noticed some growing in the front garden of the house diagonally across the road.

Two have appeared in my neighbours' back garden.
