Also Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree by 'Mel' and 'Kim' has been mentioned. At the time previously mentioned I remember very clearly walking up Cornhill in Chelmsford town centre in my ambiguGoth gear, and hearing that song blaring out from the market under the multi-storey car park.

Butterfield wrote:Play out with one of Madonna's most forgotten songs - the Look of Love.
Butterfield wrote:It's so forgotten that even I barely know it.
Butterfield wrote:I think this was Madonna's last single before Like a Prayer in 1989.
I heard that less that 24 hours ago, and I have no memory of the song at all.
Maybe it's me?
I think Like a Prayer was the first Madonna song I actually liked. Queen of pop? No.

1988 is going to be a Madonna-free year. She released no single or album in that year.

1988 is the year of Acid House Kylie and Jason innit?

That's why Madonna didn't make a record. She knew she couldn't compete with them.

Incidentally they uploaded a version of Like A prayer from Eurovision where they've 'fixed' the vocals.

Still no power, excitement or personality in the vocals.

He's not smiling. Has someone finally told him there's a thing called feeling?

Even if the backing vocals are weedy.

And some of the lyrics are blatantly stolen from Squeeze's Heartbreaking World.

I do suspect this is them trying to do their own version of True.
