Re: Wings - Red Rose Speedway
The transitions between the different bit have been really lazy.

Re: Wings - Red Rose Speedway
The climax to the ending is genius, pulling all the bits together into one coherent and cogent whole.

It suddenly starts to sound like there was a plan all along.

That sounded like it was more fun to make that to listen to.

Re: Wings - Red Rose Speedway
Well, I liked the first track, it sounded like bits of the first album but with a better budget.
It's was a lot more like his old group, than the other Wings albums. Just not as good.
Dunno, I'm thinking of giving this a **, Still think I prefer it to Speed of Sound, and Back to the Egg.

Re: Wings - Red Rose Speedway
And it is over.
It is a very odd album that doesn't seem to know what it wants to be. Bits of it sound like Wildlife. Bits sound like Ram. Bits sound like Band on the Run. Bits sound like London Town. Bits of it sound like Wings. Bits of it sound like the Beatles.
I think it can only be viewed as an artist and a band trying to work out, in the studio, just where they should be going, and failing.
It's amazing to think that, later the same year, the core members released Band on the Run which has all the assuredness, purpose and focus that this lacks.

What did I say last time?
I did listen to Venus and Mars, And I'd definitely say it was one of the better ones, still prefer the groove based Wildlife.
I'd think I'd put Red Rose Speedway and London Town in between Venus and mars and back to the Egg.

But…
Wildlife
Wings Over America
Venus and Mars
Back to the Egg
Wings At The Speed of Sound.
Heard but not rated:
Band on the Run
Not Heard but have a copy:
London Town
Red Rose Speedway

Re: Wings - Red Rose Speedway
London Town's songs were good, but they just sound so lifeless.
Maybe I could try turning up the treble a bit?
Yes, I think I'd put London Town over Red Rose Speedway.
Also I think New is the best Paul McCartney thing we've done.

Have you not changed that after hearing it again?
Then again, I think I prefer McCartney I and II to Wings.
Can't remember Ram.

My McCartney solo ranking:
New
Driving Rain
Ram
Flaming Pie
Egypt Station
Memory Almost Full
McCartney II
McCartney
Flowers in the Dirt
Pipes of Peace
Off the Ground
Tug of War
Give My Regards to Broad Street
Press
Chaos and Creation in the Back Yard
That was very difficult to work out and I think I might change my mind later.
I have not included Kisses on the Bottom or Run Devil Run, as they're mostly covers albums.
I've not included the unofficial albums like the Fireman ones or Thrillington.
I've not included live albums, only studio ones.

Where would you put the Wings albums on the list of McCartney albums? Or The Beatles

Re: Wings - Red Rose Speedway
Obviously you don't have to include anything from before 1966, as that's a different bloke.
