Re: Weird and wonderful old adverts
I thought the Eagle Man ad was the worst advert ever.
But now I've seen the Roller Kingdom advert!

That would be really hot in Australia. I wonder how many Lord Jim customers eventually said ‘I don’t care, I can’t take it anymore’ and put it on the table next to their Fosters.

Five months of life - not in my house they wouldn’t. Five seconds. Oh god. What if they had children of their own. It doesn’t bear thinking about.
At a service stop between Granada and Madrid a few years ago, a Spanish woman discovered one in her hair. She was leaping around the car park like someone having a fit, screaming and jerking and cursing and swiping. Nobody laughed, we all felt really sorry for her.

Re: Weird and wonderful old adverts
I've only seen cockroaches in Florida - usually dead and on their backs. I didn't really mind them and thought of them as interestingly exotic until I went into a bathroom in the dark, switched the light on and one zoomed around the bath and vanished out of sight. They are incredibly quick!
Another time I was watching TV one evening and a cockroach FLEW past me and landed up the corner near to where I was sitting! It buzzed and everything. Apparently they can only fly very short distances, as this one did.

Disgusting. Relaxing in Provence one summer day, on the terrace of a picture perfect cafe, I turned to see where the waiter was and saw several of them crawling over each other on the wall behind me. I got up so fast my chair fell backwards and I didn’t even bother to pick it up.
