That's also seen in the opening scene (which they obviously filmed on the same day). It's part of an array of souvenirs whose purpose is to establish that Sid and Joan go on package holidays a lot.

Observe the trinity of reactions - Bill Maynard's crass sexual harrassment, Sid's sentimental memories of Cyril's mother, and Bernie's charming protectiveness.

He's adorable.

I love it when he poses as a pregnant woman later on.

"I can't do that Sid, not in my condition".

It's like he's completely for real with it - there's no sneering at his character or sense he's abnormal in any way.

He's just comfortable with his body and the blurring of gender identities he has foisted on him.

I like Kenneth Connor's line about the baby being born "smothered in breadcrumbs".

Cyrille makes Chaucerian restitution for his improper assumption of female role, by being given the crucial female task of delivering her triplets. He passes the test and becomes a complete human being.

Camping.

The script is excellent.

The dialogue in the opening nudist colony film scene is very good.

Especially between Joan and Sid.

"I just heard from a mate that went camping in Scotland, and his wife was ravished by a wild haggis, and now she's expecting a little faggot!"

I properly lolled.

It's depressing watching all these old things, everyone dead. Over-rehearsed unfunny rubbish.

I think I'll put Carry on Camping on instead.



'Mrs. Haggard'

It's very good the way Sid, in all his arrogance and bravado, crumbles before her Amazonian charms and starts acting like a boy in the chemists.

Camping is, like Matron, one of those films that I think "ahh, no, I've seen it a trillion times...", but then it comes on and I'm instantly riveted.
