I myself am a mere 700 yards from the nearest tidal water, and 7 miles from the actual sea.

It looks like the nearest ship to me is in Scunthorpe, 37 miles away.

Actually, I'm sure someone once told me that a barge was strictly for carry goods only, one of those more open top ones. Or is it the other way round? blah blah

While driving the back way into the Braehead shopping centre this morning, I was shocked to see an enormous cruise ship looming over the trees. I hadn't previously known Braehead was that close to the river. Or that people were taking cruises to Glasgow.

I even saw several buses labelled CRUISE SHUTTLE making their way importantly towards it.
