It's has gone up to 26.3 now, a new record for this heatwave. The sun went in a couple of hours ago so there has been little to no sun on this side of the house this evening.

26.4 - still climbing.

I just switched my air conditioner/glorified fan off to see if it was actually bearable in the Bijou Mini-Flatlet.

It was a bad idea.

I've cracked and have put a desk fan on my, err desk, pointing straight at my fat ugly face, tis nice.

Dropped to 28, and it was 28.5 when I started typing this.

Fans are the biz. Don't believe the 'they just push hot air around' propaganda. If it's less than 37 C in the room they'll cool you off.

The temperature has plummeted to 26 degrees.

My temperature gauge thingy is over 100 miles away from where I currently am. I wonder what its reading currently is.

However, there is a similar one here, and it's showing as 22.9 degrees. That makes for quite a nice house temperature actually.

I am now down to 25.5 degrees.

Yes that is perfect. That’s a ‘not thinking about it either way’ temperature. You’re not too hot, you’re not too cold, there are no changes that need to be made to what you’re wearing or anything.

As a child I used to like it very warm so I’d always turn the heating up. Then my grandmother would say ‘it’s over 70 in here’ and that was the sign that we were all to be plunged into Antarctica - 70 was her absolute limit for central heating. Anything more than that was the height of vulgar excess. When I was in my teens I came to share her feelings - I like natural heat, but not artificial heat, so unless it’s freezing outside (and sometimes even then) I’ll have the window open. She’d think I was lax - I fling the windows wide open, whereas she had guide markings on the frames - any more open than the marking was into fishwife territory.

Although I expect that need for fresh air will change. By the time she was about 80, the Fahrenheit temperature pretty much matched her age, and continued to escalate. When she was in her 90’s things were positively tropical and you’d practically have to undress and roll ice cubes on your wrists if you were there.

Even though I've got the thermostat set to 18 degrees, and it's currently 24 degrees in the house.
