I’ve apologised. I think my reaction was OTT and unreflective of her intent.

Re: What's happening in your life? Part 2
My father disgraced himself yesterday by turning our regular Friday afternoon aperitifs into party time. He ended up staggering away from the dinner table and falling over drunk in the hall. He's always been hyperstraight and ultra-respectable, so it's all the more shocking.
Usually it's just me who does the drinking in this family, but since he had that stroke last year he's been uncharacteristically thirsty.

This morning he was behaving as if it never happened.

If it wasn't for mum I would never go back to Essex again.

Re: What's happening in your life? Part 2
I've not been around much. My move went well. Getting my home seems each out of reach, even if I go back to work tomorrow so I'll be stuck at my Mum's for the foreseeable.
I am an election candidate in the local elections for the Social Democratic Party in my local area. Only 1000 leaflets I had to deliver, but I've done my best and all are completed. I'm going to see how this goes.
So far 2024 has just been a bit meh....but an improvement on 2023 for me..

It doesn't shred staples.
Or bank cards.
Or CDs.

It has a "Reverse" button on it. I thought, "That's a bit odd. It implies that if you press it, it'll take the shredded paper and reassemble it into a whole sheet of paper for you."
I knew, instinctively, that was was a little unlikely.

I've just been for a walk which included going through an old churchyard with millions of well-weathered 18th and 19th century graves, and a handful of newer marble ones, and amongst the newer ones I spotted the grave of someone who died in 2021 who was a couple of months YOUNGER than me.

There’s nothing freakier than a fresh grave. Especially the ones with all the floral tributes laid out in the shape of a single bed. A friend of mine has a flat overlooking an in-use graveyard, and from his window you sometimes see this.

I also saw a grave of someone who died aged 20 on 30th July 1981, the day after Charles and Diana's wedding.
