He's been as good as gold, shy little thing tweeting away, having a frolic in the stringy thingy. But I'll be opening the cage on Thursday, and I'll be expecting a scene like the Rabbit bit in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

For the last 20 minutes smoke has been billowing from behind the houses opposite this hotel.

I thought it was just 'steam' from a vent at first because it was white.

But 5 minutes ago it turned black, and now I can hear loads of sirens.

I saw a Tunnock's Teacakes pickup truck in the car park of a little retail area on an industrial estate yesterday Evidently some kind of response vehicle for urgent teacake maintenance issues.

A grotty little area it was too, there was a Farmfoods (closed), a Betfred (closed) and a Subway and a Greggs (open). The Greggs didn't have potato wedges but the counterman was very pleasant.

Today the top of one of those lorry-mounted mobile cranes is visible over the houses where the smoke was coming from.
