Irreversible brain damage I'm afraid.

Re: Do you hate your computer?
System Restore has failed miserably. All I have is a blank screen with a cursor on it.

Now I'm going to have to buy a new laptop.
There goes the money I was saving up for a TV.

I have found three possible solutions. I shall give them a try, in reverse order of scariness.

I have fixed it by switching from my laptop's non-admin account to its administrator account.

My old G5 Powermac was working one day, next day turned it on and nothing happened. I think the PSU gone, and it's not worthy of economic repair
It took me half an hour to get the old PowerPPC Macmini working so I could keep err.. keep backing up, some old DVDs.
And now the external 3TB Hard drive back up isn't working.
It had all myporn DVD rips/Top of the Pops downloads on it!!

Re: Do you hate your computer?
I've sent my little external backup drive back to Lacie so I can get another one under guarantee.
Oh, gawd, I hope they can't fix it, and find out I've got a load of 80s TotPs I've st*len off the internets!

Got the LaCie drive back, I now have 2 4TB external harddrives, that's more storage than I'll ever need!
OOh, I see the Cheesgrater is back:
Maybe I could get one to replace my old G5 Power Mac.
Checks Price…
Nope.

Re: Do you hate your computer?
Apparently it's 5 or 6 thousand quid.
The monitor's another 4+ thousand.
There's also a stand you can by for $/£1000...

Re: Do you hate your computer?
I wonder how much the little wheels will be?
I was just looking at the trashcan Mac Pro(?), it's smaller than I thought it would be, more like a bigger Mac mini/G4 Cube sorta design
They're about 3 thousand for the weak 6 core version, with a feeble 16GB of ram.

So I was going to take it down the huge aluminium cheese-grater down to the recycling centre and chuck it into one of those skips that get sent to China or something.
But I though, I'd plug it in, just incase it's started working, Nope.
Pull out the Graphics card, might get £1.56 on ebay for it, still not powering on, pulled out the 3rd part USB card, that'll be handy on one of my old PPC computers with only a 1.1 UBS ports on it.
And
And it powers on
Hang on, what's this:
Well, I say that, I've still not put the Hard drives back in and connected it to the monitor, but it's powering on anyway!
