Strawberry Switchblade or Ugli Fruit Knuckledusters?
Strawberry Switchblade - Strawberry Switchblade (1985)
This is a very interesting album.
It represents a catastrophic, yet, IMO, weirdly fruitful collision of factors.
A coalescence of the ambitions of two Glasgow girls from different sides of the tracks to Pop greatness and the inevitable record company sell-out (before they'd had even a chance to snuggle rumpus it up of their own accord) after one semi-successful elpee.
All the songs had already been written (and more) before the dismaying demise of professional and personal friendship affairs between young Jill and Rose.

Re: Strawberry Switchblade - Strawberry Switchblade (1985)
I guess that I'm saying with this post that I don't really mind what others say about.
Even if they choose to ignore it.
Even if they choose to ignore or slight it.
It's basically cr*p or good on its own merits/failures.
Little room for subjectivity...
As my old art tutor said, it's all about targets - not what you - the objective observer believes is right aesthetically or morally - but what you objectively feel the other person has sought to achieve and, thus, whether you think they came anywhere near it.
Knowing loads of stuff as a critic or arbiter helps of course.

I'll be reviewing this tomorrow at 7:53pm exactly tomorrow.
It will be part of an ongoing series of 'I don't give a f*g what any of you's think' series.

I like what I've heard of Strawberry Switchblade. I've always like jingly jangly Pop.

I like that it sounds like something from a children's show but is also melancholic.
And has hints of that Marianne Faithful song.

That is a perfectly executed piece of Pop.

Vocals need to be louder in the mix.
