Great album.
Should be considered part of a diptych with Funkentelechy.
I think I prefer the latter slightly, but MSC is a defining pearl in the P-Funk crown.

Re: Parliament - Mothership Connection (1975)
It is over.
That was OK. The bits between the bits where nothing was happening were quite pleasant and but every track went on for too long. Also, there weren't enough fast songs. I shall give it 3 stars for the good bits.
Now to look back at the thread and see what everyone else made of it.

The invention, originality, musicianship, ambition.
The vision!
The Parliament/Funkadelic nexus is a really fantastic cultural achievement on multiple cultural levels that has resounded down the ages.
The entire and inexorable rise of Hip-Hop from niche, underground sub-genre was forged off of the back of Clinton and Company.
Well before Dr. Dre co-opted their sound, Digital Underground and various other Oakland groups were paving the way for G-Funk.
