This is sort of funny, but it smacks of The Rutles (and the Stones) and therefore...

It's been done.

Basically, like everything on this 'album' it only really works in context of the film.

I'm giving this album ★★ because, although it's frequently funny, it is only so in context of the film.

Basically, some phoney legitimising of the band on things like The Simpsons was OK (back in the early mid-'90s I wasn't exactly aware that Harry "Derek Smalls" Shearer did almost 50% of the voices), but, as with so much of this kind of satire and its squadron of twattish fans it goes too far.

I always thought the bogus album title The Sun Never Sweats was very very funny though.

That said, the whole enterprise - despite being obviously subject to quite some demand - is misguided and unfortunate.

Like the actual Venus de Milo being put on sale at a garden centre for £89.99.
