But those are the only things I want to store.Fangirl Three wrote:(excluding firearms, asbestos, living creatures or toxic waste).

IDK how long the living creatures would last in the presence of asbestos and toxic waste.
And they might use the firearms to escape.
I am also prohibited from storing 'anything that is unique and has a value to you that cannot be expressed financially'![Sly](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/suspect.gif)

The slight sense of shame associated with briefly holding up a supermarket queue by fumbling with your debit card as expressed through the medium of interpretive dance.
I think.

Like out of a cheap early-80s horror movie.

My Mum got locked inside the college she's worked for for for about 30 years on her very last day, having decided, at 76, to finally retire.
It was like the building REFUSED TO LET HER LEAVE!![scared](/users/3715/63/33/29/smiles/3218000624.gif)

It wasn't her soon-to-be-ex-colleagues playing a retirement joke on her?

No, it was security remotely and automatically locking everything at 11pm.
My Mum was trapped in a vast college building between 11pm and 2am because her last evening class overran because her students were thanking her all that and then, when she was leaving, remembered she'd left her handbag in the office and went back upstairs only to get trapped, completely alone in the dark and cold.
She managed to get to a room that had a tephelone and she called me in a panic.
My only advice was to call the police and/or fire service which she did.
I then also did the same and at about 2am the police finally located the phone number for the caretaker simply because he'd left his car in the carpark and they tracked it down via the license plate.
He lived nearby and was able to traipse around in the middle of the night to unlock the building.
My Mum was then driven home by the police.
Finally, I was given a 'courtesy' call from the police who seemed to suggest she'd been drunk and fallen asleep in her classroom.![Colbert](/users/3715/63/33/29/smiles/586931285.gif)

Fliping piges.
Could your mum not have used a fire exit?

Early this morning I went to my new storage room and stored an old tape deck there, as a test. I also checked the mobile phone reception from inside the room, in case I ever get trapped in there.

What a shame. She must've been freezing. Public services making assumptions about people seems to be on the rise. I'm still working on getting an apology from the council, whose environmental health officer told my neighbours the bluebottle infestation they were suffering from was 'almost certainly' from this flat.

The filth always exude smug, ignorant cynicism.
It's engendered in them from the off.

It's definitely been a rarity to encounter one that doesn't.
Generally quite good in the sack, so there's always that.

Fire exits are not all they're cracked up to be, in my limited experience.
Several years ago in Istanbul, I opened one to escape a situation. Istanbul is incredibly hilly, and they can be so steep that what is ground floor on one side of a building can be more than a storey high on the other. The ground round back of this place was at least a full storey down from the fire exit, but by then I was committed in terms of physical and emotional momentum so I had to jump.

The ones at the Hortensia Road campus are by all accounts absolutely impassable when automatically locked.
They're all modern, see.
The irony.![ha ha no](/users/3715/63/33/29/smiles/4290251739.gif)
