New York Tendaberry or York dangleberry?
Re: Laura Nyro - New York Tendaberry (1969)
It is over.
That was a very trying album, filled with samey aimless pointlessness. Listening to her sing is like watching a crane fly constantly banging its head against your lightbulb.
Now to look back at the thread and see what everybody else made of it.

Well, it's clear how she has a c*lt following.
Basically, She's really not for everyone.
Including, by-and-large, me.
The sheer power of her vocals and the restless, but sparse, jazz-soul-folk stylings make for a wearyingly intense experience.
I think I had the other album that she did with LaBelle in mind in truth.
This one's deffo her uncompromising 'magnum opus', but it's a pretty hard listen in its own way.
Still, I respect it and I respect her - she was a fascinating person and an obviously brilliant musician/singer.
Ultimately, respect is the word - respect rather than love.
