Re: The bicycle thread
I'm thinking of replacing its current steel seat-post with a lighter, aluminium one.
I was also planning to replace its current seat-post clamp with a quick-release levered one but it seems reluctant to come off. I don't know if it's been welded on or if it's just the paint that's holding it there.

Re: The bicycle thread
My other plans are to replace the saddle and to replace the current plastic brake levers with metal ones.
I may also replace the current steel handlebar with an aluminium one.
And, if I really have fixed the gear-changing issues, I'll replace the current freewheel with a mega-range one, to make it easier to tackle steep hills.
And I'm also going to replace the default plastic pedals with aluminium ones.

If I haven't managed to fix the gear-shifting, I may convert it to a single-speed and see how it copes with hills.

If everything works out, I may give it a hub motor and turn it into an eBike.

Re: The bicycle thread
I've just ordered a seatpost quick-release lever. When it arrives, it'll be the first upgrade I've made to the bike.
It cost me over £3.

My quick-release lever hasn't arrived yet. And it was posted on Monday and was supposed to have arrived by today.

My quick release lever still hasn't arrived.
It's still not even showing as being out for delivery.

I wish I'd never ordered it now. It's added so much stress to my life.

Did you order it from China?

Re: The bicycle thread
The listing claims it's in Lancashire but I wonder if that's just a ruse?

I've just checked. Even though the item's supposed to be in Lancashire, the seller's listed as being in Hong Kong.

That too is probably just a PO box address.
The place that makes these knock-off components is most likely based in an obscure Chinese city nobody's ever heard of like, say... Dalian?

I hate it when an online order turns from something exciting, into a chore
