I don't think so.

It's from a bit before all that palaver.

It was released at the proper cinema and, despite getting critically savaged, did relatively well box office-wise.

Nope.

The t*tular character is not undead.

Having looked at the Wiki page, it seems now that it was influenced by other more seminal movies a couple of decades or so earlier - including a Quatermass. gasp

Ostensibly it's a sci-fi film, but with a distinctively sleazy horror/gore aesthetic that it seems the producers decided was a more sure way of make cash. yes
