I've been literally eaten alive!
I woke this afternoon morning and discovered that I had three whopping gr8 mozzie bites on my back.
I haven't been bitten once all Summer too.
Fortunately however the fact that they're on my back means I'm not scratching them really very much at all and therefore they're not itching very much.

I've just found a bite on my foot and one on my arm.
These ones are very easily accessible for the scratching of.

Antihistamine cream, applied as soon as you feel the bite, is very helpful.

I currently have two whopping gert mosquito bites on my left leg.
I got them two days ago and they're both still really inflamed, raised sore and very very itchymainly because I won't stop scratching them.
I'd post pictures of them, but they're quite grossmainly because I've brutally scratched the heads off and they've gone all scabby.

I've still not spotted the little baskets either.
They may still be lurking about.

Monkeypox is an STD, no?
Chance would be a fine thing.

OK, I knew there was an extant thread.
Can you merge this and the 'I've Been Bitten' thread, Wendi-Pops?

Re: Ooergh, I've been bitten/stung!
I used to get a big reaction to mosquito bites, but now I put antihistamine cream on them as soon as I notice them, and it stops them developing.
The other rule is never to scratch. If you're really desperate, dripping very hot water onto them is better.

It occurred to me btw, are you sure they're bites, and not monkeypox?

Actually I see that Dr Butterfield offered that diagnosis upthread.
I myself currently have loads of bites on the right-hand side of my body, including 4 close together in a straight line. I started wondering if I wasn't infested with miniature livestock - so I put loads of pepper in my bedclothes last night, an anti-bug measure approved by George Orwell.

Re: Ooergh, I've been bitten/stung!
Yesterday I saw a huge mozzie on the wall and I tried to get it but it was too near the ceiling and my effort to whip it to pieces with a tea towel failed and it flew off.
Then, when I woke up much earlier, there it was, on the wall right next to my bed to so I squished it without hesitation.
It was a veritable gore fest, with the mosquito audibly popping and sending a spray of blood almost an inch across the wall.
Then I went back to sleep only to awaken about an hour ago wondering if and when I'd notice a bite (or more)...
Aaaand, yes, there it is, slap bang on the middle of my right forearm.
I still haven't scratched it, but the urge is growing with every passing minute.

Re: Ooergh, I've been bitten/stung!
Antihistamine cream is good to stop the urge to itch.
Alternatively you can pour a thin stream of really hot water onto the bite, it's incredibly satisfying.
I never did find out what caused those bites a year ago. But I haven't had any since.
