Supposedly, Dark Side of the Moon was recorded on a tape that had already been used as a mastertape for one of George Martin's instrumental albums, and bits of it can still be heard peeping through.

The words "sand" and "sandal" derive from totally different sources.

Links work on images, if you keep the inside the description.

If true, that would be a fun living room for a few weeks, followed by the crushing realisation that you’d completed the task and had to redecorate.

I knew that. It’s one of my mothers all time favourite television shows. Hot Lips Houlihan.

Re: Breaking learning thread Part 2.
In the dim and distant past, it was believed that if you said the name of that particular animal, one would appear and kill you. Therefore, people always referred to it by a euphemism.cosmictanya wrote:The Call of the Wendigo wrote:No culture on Earth has a name for the animal we refer to as a, "bear."

"Bear," is the euphemism the English-speaking world uses. It simply means, "Brown one." Every language in the world also uses a similar euphemism.
It's like if everyone in the world refused to call a dog a dog and called it, "Pawed one," instead, until the word "dog" became forgotten through lack of use.
Because of that, no one knows what the proper name for a bear is, as no one has used it since before records began.
