It is over.
It was an album that was difficult to warm to.,
Now to look back at the thread and see what everybody else made of it.

Ooh, new Carly Rea Jepson album out this year.
Oh, it's over.

That was ultimately a bit exhausting.
I prefer their first two albums.
Especially their first album.
When The Residents gave them their first record deal.

Re: Yello - Stella (1985)
Sounds expensive. Shame they didn't write any songs, hooks, melodies, or anything worth listening to. Sounded good though. In a dated mid 80s way.

Re: Yello - Stella (1985)
For a change, I've been a bit mean with my marking.
Cos:
They were always a band who, despite being achingly, archly, ironically cool and 'jaded sophisticat' avant-garde, but here the '80s production and over-reliance on synthi-everything bogged down the playfulness and fun.

Re: Yello - Stella (1985)
Overall a mildly unpleasant album that was quite horrible to listen to. The first few tracks were fine until it descended into such harsh production with little musical interest.
I do think Yello are a greatest hits act. I don't like Flag (the album with The Race on it) which is just The Race recycled into mildly different songs. That's the only Yello studio album I own but even that is relegated to a best of the rest box.
I'd probably give Flag 1/5; this I'll give 2/5
I think I'll stick with the likeable compilation.
