I've just managed to pack almost everything, with four weeks to spare. Only the big stuff and what is in use remains (bed, TV, clothes etc). Feels absolutely bare at the moment, but I will be glad to go soon.
I do have something big planned in 2024. Revived an "old hobby" I had but participating under a new flag and going for the big one, although I won't win.

It's nothing horrible. It's just in light of recent events, I found something I now belong too and the move is a perfect time to revive it. It's not suitable for this forum (as it's a light-hearted one) but it rhymes with "conflicts" which a lot of that happens!

I saw the Def Leppard drummer's left arm for the first time ever last night.

It's not offical yet (got paperwork to file), but I am running for the SDP in the 2024 local elections in Bristol and for the General Election for Bristol Central (same party).

Anyway, I’m staying on the Fife coast for a month, while I work out whether a job opportunity in Melbourne is something I’m interested in. I don’t know if Australia appeals to me, but maybe I’d become a total convert and start speaking Strine and driving a ute.
Toorak is apparently the best area. I was horrified to see nothing under 3m at first, before realising you cut that in half to get the £ translation.
Very pleased with my surroundings at the moment. The best fish and chip shop in the UK, a favourite of Camilla, is ten minutes walk away. There’s a cosy pub across the road. And I’ve had two St Andrews students already - last nights was called Matty.
Can’t wear heels inside or the top of my hair brushes against the ceiling. It’s very picturesque. I think it was an old fisherman’s cottage. I’ve been watching ‘The Newsreader’ on BBC iplayer to get myself into the Australian vibe - it’s fantastic. Helen Norville is a great character. I can’t wait for series 3.

I thought that was an 80’s thing, but anyway, good luck to you.

Thank you. They've revived but very different from the 80s one and are only a minor party. They have councillors in Leeds.

Well, all the best. Bristol is probably a decent place to try something new - it’s quite a receptive city, with a social conscience, and not stuck in its ways.

Damps come back. And the mold.

Cillit Bang Mould Remover will sort out the latter problem.
As for the former, have you done the things recommended in this video?

I think it's coming through the wall, the full matter is a little embarrassing.

My peace is to be shattered later tonight. I have three teenage boys arriving. I said he could bring two friends up for the weekend. I’m not picking them up from the airport because they want to go into Edinburgh, wander about, catch a film, and no doubt to try to get served in a pub or two. Fine. They can make the majority of their own way here. I’m picking them up from the nearest train station which seems to be Kirkcaldy. I won’t be pleased if they arrive at midnight or later.

According to my internet, they are 26,000ft above Penrith. I’m just going to send a message now, so it’s there for landing, saying there are no arguments - I’ve checked the trains, and if they aren’t at that station waiting to be picked up at some point before midnight they can just sleep on the platform. Other than that, they are to enjoy their evening in Edinburgh.

It’s quite hypnotic - 6,000ft over Midlothian. What a great way to waste time.
Three minutes from landing, so approximately six minutes from ‘can’t you just pick us up at 2am from the doorstep of wherever we are?’

Now I feel guilty. It was more like ten minutes, and he’s just sent ‘Np Ty Mx’.

Someone just posted something about coving, cornicing, ceiling rose plastering, ‘designed specifically for you by us’. They promise ‘Maximum wait time. Minimal satisfaction. Guaranteed!’. I wonder if I ought to ring to tell them.

I think I will. It’s probably some poor young guy just trying to run his business in a cost of living crisis, bless him. But before I ring in the morning, I’ll keep the flyer to show the boys.
Heading out very soon, all wrapped up, as they’re arriving at quarter to midnight. Cutting it fine, but I did say before 12, so they’re technically under the rod I set for my own back there.
