I once bought the huge box set for this album. load of tat and 2 almost indistinguishable mix and a live album.
I think it's what put me off buying huge box sets.

When you hear that version you really understand that Bovvie was trying to emulate the J. Mathis version rather than the more famous Nina Simone version.

I refute this assessment.
Track one is an appalling, yet fascinating (like in a biopsy sort-of-way) crossing of the beams.
It's a tragically ironic rendition that lays bare both Bovvie's fawning fandom of Lennon and Lennon's 'lost three years' NYC nadir.
It's a perfectly, bitterly ironic overexertion that's encapsulated in the booze-and-coke-driven-spittle-all-over-the-mics vocals and gurning, eye-bulging awfulness of the whole affair.
