Is this G*neration Zee getting all "nostalgic" about the 2000s?

I think it’s ‘Gen Zee’. Although I’m sticking with calling it ‘Generation Zed’.
They are quite nostalgic about what I consider the recent barely past - one of my sons friends asked me last year if I’d ever heard of ‘Friends’ and recommended it to me as if he was passing on a secret about something incredibly niche.

They see us all as the curious products of a previous millennium. As far as they are concerned, the 1990’s is in a category with the 1690’s and the 1290’s and the 1090’s - it’s all the same, the time before, where dark age people lived benighted lives of unimaginable hardship. Although they are generally quite nice in my experience. Maybe they have a point, slightly.

There really aren't many famous north-facing British coastal towns. Just casually looking at the map it's basically just anywhere along the Norfolk coast (Cromer etc.), North Wales (Rhyl), St. Ives in Cornwall, and whichever ones in Scotland don't have cliffs - North Aberdeenshire, John o' Groats coast.
