For years I held off on the long dresses on the grounds that I didn’t want to look like Kate Middleton. I finally gave in last year, and bought a couple - didn’t want to be that 40+ still clinging to an outdated miniskirt. One is a black/navy white polka dot thing, and I already feel a bit too Kate in it, but now Melania Trump has turned up in one too. I might just switch to trousers (themselves coming in all kinds of horrible shapes these days) all the time, at least until the pencil miniskirt which actually suits me best is back in. Surely it can’t be too many years now before the cycle changes again.
