Re: How Excited By Christmas are you?
I have been informed that even more people are coming here. My mothers second cousin has just moved back to the UK, and their house is evidently a construction site - so she's invited herself with her husband, their child, and a dog - I didn't know she had any of those three things. Apparently he's Canadian, so that'll be us all bored by generic niceness. Her grandparents already guilt tripped an invite. I have to have a special toilet seat installed for one of them, for the day.
I'm not sure these people quite believed me when I said I don't cook. We are having cold deli style chicken, with pesto and pasta pine nut salad. Fresh raspberries, champagne, weed, and a bowl of marzipan fruits will be the only other things on offer. If they are expecting some kind of winter wonderland, they're going to be sorely let down. The only roses allowed in this flat are the kind that go in a vase - I'm absolutely dreading the prospect of cheap chocolate being brought over.
Peoples taste goes out the window at Christmas - you can't even walk through an office without being offered some skin wrecking trash by Cadburys Kraft. 'Bring nothing' is often taken to mean the opposite.

Re: How Excited By Christmas are you?
On the bus, this afternoon, the driver was dressed as Santa and gave me a free bag of sweets.

They were Haribo sweets.
I'm not that keen on Haribo.

They are described on the packet as, "Giant Strawbs."

I've got some of those currently in stock. I'm not that keen on them though.

That sounds very overfamiliar. I'm not sure I'd like that. They could be poisoned or anything.

I've gone into 'avoiding the Christmas shoppers' mode. Leaving the storage unit early before the traffic congeals, that sort of thing.
It's a terrible time of year for those who actually need to buy something practical.

Right. Liberty's have what I want but don't have a 24/7 number that works - and that's where I get my discount and points. Le Labo itself isn't working. Harrods is down, as is Harvey Nichols. Selfridges is sold out. Fortnums doesn't have. Neither does Les Senteurs - and I object to that place anyway due to the b*tch that barely served me on one of my birthdays. Amazon doesn't seem to know what I'm talking about. Even the New York number for Le Labo is going straight to a concierge answer machine.

Weirdly, the recorded voice on the Liberty number sounds exactly like my father. I was expecting something a bit more upmarket. It's the strangest experience.

After all that effort and finally getting through, Liberty's are out. That's my gift giving ruined for the year.

I'm wildly excited now, cos it's Christmas Eve.
Which apart from its innocent festive attributes, is one of the 5 days a year where daytime drinking is allowed.
