Re: Bird Words
However:
It seems that their other singing songs are relatively annoying.
- The babies constantly twitter like beaky mentalists.
- When threatened (e.g. a cat is lurking nearby with malintent, or another bird (like a magpie) is menacing the nest), one parent chirps very loudly and sharply and the other swoops and dives towards and wheels around the threat to both intimidate and distract the menacing target.
- They can get a bit squawkily lairy for reasons unknown.

Pretty sure they're blackbirds.
Adult blackbirds have, for such a common bird, a very pretty and elegant song.
They do, don't they. I was familiar with the song - it mades me think of green leaves on rainy days - but I never associated it with sunshine or blackbirds it till I was taking my daily exercise during the early COVID shutdown. I'd be walking round the block and hear a beautiful song, and see a blackbird perched on a TV aerial chirping away for all it was worth.

It's got dark enough now for them stop their incessant peeping and a-cheeping.
I'm starting to wonder if they're actually wood pijinz now though.

Re: Bird Words
Wood pigeons don't chirrup and cheep. They go, "United woo! United woo!"

Yes, but, I know, but I know...
I'm only saying that because I've got binoculars and I was trying to get a good look at them amongst the thickets and foliage yesterday and it seemed like the 'parents' were relatively big and bulky and inelegant as they settled the little ones down.
Then I started thinking that they might be some kind of other less likeable birdie-sort.
Like the aforementioned wood pigeon.
Or, worse still, just some f*rging magpies.

Re: Bird Words
These birdies are actually getting on my t*ts now.
I was talking to my neighbours earlier on and they didn't realise it was birdies and they both thought that there was some kind of faulty car alarm going off nearby.
