It's been reported that Nestlé is to axe the Caramac bar.

Fans of the caramel bar Caramac have been left "devastated" after Nestlé confirmed it is discontinuing the sweet.

Nestlé said it was "a difficult decision" but pointed to slower sales in recent years.

Caramac was launched more than 60 years ago, quickly gaining popularity thanks to its distinctive red and yellow wrapper and caramel flavour.

It comes as rival brands have launched similar "blonde" chocolate products.

I think I had one, once, when I was little.

I don't remember ever feeling the need to have one again.

I'm feeling faintly murdeous about this news.

I reckon that this is like that time Heinz said they were going to stop making Salad Cream.

It caused a massive commotion with all people up in arms and demanding the chairman of Heinz self-immolate.

There were mobs of bloodthirsty Salad Cream fans roaming the streets slaughtering anyone who dared suggest that mayonnaise was probably just as good...

Then Heinz graciously relented and said it had been a huge mistake on their part and suddenly Salad Cream sales skyrocketed...

I was in Poundland, early this morning, and looked to see if they had any Caramac but they didn't.

I liked them when I was a kid, but I'm certain I'd find them sickly as fook now.

It's just white chocolate basically (I seem to recall).

It’s horrible stuff. I had one as a toddler when I came out of a swimming pool - my grandfather was big on the idea of sugar treat after a winter swim, so handed me a Caramac he’d bought. I thought it was the most terrible thing I’d ever tasted. I can still remember it like it was yesterday. I was virtually traumatised. We settled on a Golden Cup for me from then on.
